Defendify is excited to once again be an official National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) Champion of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
During the month of October, Defendify will be challenging organizations to do their part to be cyber smart through stronger data security practices, raising awareness of current cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and regular employee education on how to stay vigilant. Check out the Challenge!
What is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month?
Launched in 2004 as a joint effort between the NCSA and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month occurs every October and is intended to help ensure that everyone has access to the information and the resources that they need in order to become digitally safer and more secure.
The 2021 theme for National Cyber Security Awareness Month is “Do your part. #BeCyberSmart. ” This theme empowers individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace.
In addition to the National Cyber Security Alliance, other Defendify partner associations will be participating in Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Global Cyber Alliance, Cyber Readiness Institute, CompTIA, and Security Industry Association.
Getting the recipes to be cyber-smart
The first step to boost cyber-smarts is to assess the current state of your cybersecurity – establishing a benchmark of data security strengths and weaknesses across people, processes and technology. Taking a cybersecurity controls assessment will give you a report showing critical vulnerabilities, a score on the strength of your cybersecurity posture, and recommendations for improvement.
During Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Defendify is serving up recipes for more robust cybersecurity through the Cyber Food for Thought Awareness Challenge. You’ll start with a quick assessment of where you stand today, then for the main course, you will be served relevant tips and resources to help you strengthen your overall cybersecurity program. At the end of the month, you can re-assess and delight in seeing how your cybersecurity has improved. Finally, for dessert, you will have a chance to win delicious regional and artisanal food through Goldbelly!
