Defendify Educates Nonprofit Organizations on Cybersecurity 

Defendify Partner Success Manager, Shanna Utgard, was recently invited to join channel partner RoundTable Technology at the Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) Charting Change: 2019 Nonprofit Finance Conference. MANP’s one-day conference, held December 4th, 2019 in Bangor, Maine, brought together nonprofit executive directors, finance staff, board members, program, development, and operations staff, and more for education, collaboration, and networking. Shanna worked with RoundTable Technology to educate attendees on the importance of cybersecurity in protecting nonprofit organizations.

Nonprofits are a key group that should consider strengthening their cybersecurity posture. Here are a few reasons why:

• Many nonprofit organizations collect and store sensitive data about their clients, causes, and employees that are protected by law or regulation. If this sensitive data is breached, it can mean trouble for these affected parties.
• A cyberattack can lead to a disruption in operations for nonprofits. This can include loss of access to files or networks, disruption in online services, or lost or stolen assets and information.
• A cybersecurity incident may discourage donors from supporting the organization or cause.

Shanna was thrilled to be able to join RoundTable Technology at this great event to help emphasize why and how nonprofits should consider cybersecurity and how they can get started. The more nonprofit organizations (and all organizations) know about cybersecurity, the better they can protect themselves and those they serve.
