Women of Defendify Join Day of Security Conference to Advocate for Inclusion of Women & Diversification of Cybersecurity

Defendify is proud to announce several female team members will join the Day of Shecurity on Friday, February 22nd. Held at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, MA, the Day of Shecurity is a one-day, women-only conference advocating for the inclusion of women and diversification of cybersecurity.

Under-representation of women in technology fields is an ongoing issue, and cybersecurity is no exception: globally, women make up only eleven percent of the cybersecurity workforce, experience a wage gap at all levels of employment, and report discrimination in the workplace at much higher levels than men.

The Day of Shecurity aims to address this problem – and change the industry’s hiring and retention practices – by bringing together mentors, training, and resources for women in one place. With both technical and general training tracks, Day of Shecurity has information and resources for women of all skill sets and levels of professional development who are interested in cybersecurity. The goal is for every conference attendee to leave with an understanding of what skills and disciplines are involved in the cybersecurity industry and how they can take next steps in their cybersecurity careers. The Day of Shecurity is currently held in Boston and San Francisco, but eventually aims to expand to other cities nationwide to further spread their mission.

About Day of Shecurity:

The Day of Shecurity is a free-to-attend one-day hands-on conference which originally launched in 2017 in San Francisco for women in technology interested in cybersecurity. Day of Shecurity is planning regional events which started with San Francisco 2018, is continuing with Boston 2019, and more cities will be selected soon! The event is a joint headlining effort by the Lookout Diversity Steering Committee, Brainbabe and OWASP. Additionally, local area non-profit and special interest groups are invited to participate.
